Song: City Streets
Another duty weekend another song. I wrote this song a few months ago but never recorded it; I though it was a bit boring. However, when I finally setup all my gear ready to record I ended up playing this cool riff and totally rewrote the song around it. It reminds me a little of ‘Big Love’ by Fleetwood Mac (see ‘The Dance’ DVD), but more percussive guitar style (see Francis Dunnery ‘American Life in the Summer Time’ on the ‘One night in Sauchiehall Street’ album) but with a little bit of Flamenco added!

I spent a weekend learning logic pro and came up with this little tune. The keys are
Logic’s Wurzler Piano with a bit of EQ-ing to enhance the bottom end, going through a distortion and enhance the crunchy sound. I was aiming for an REM ‘New Orleans Instrumental’ sound here. Acoustic is miked using the Oktava MK319 as is my voice and backing vocals.
